The venue's selected, the dresses and outfits are being made, the honeymoon's being arranged, dad's getting nervous about his speech and the wedding planning's in full flow. Now comes the fun bit - Time to arrange your wedding gift list.

Whilst wedding gift lists have not been around nearly as long as the weddings themselves, nowadays 90% of weddings in the UK make use of a gift list in one way or another. Wedding guests generally expect to buy a present and if they are going to get something, they would much prefer to get you something that you want.

Whether you have a new empty house to fill or plan to update your existing belongings, its important to plan your list so you decide what you need and what will suit your taste. Lynne Frost, of Lynne Frost Interiors, offers an interior design service to help couples make the most out of their gift list.

Lynne said: “I realized that there many couples who were planning their gift list could benefit from the expertise of an interior designer. Before you can choose new items for your home, it’s useful to discuss colour schemes, themes, lighting & design so any new items will fit in with the style you want. If a couple are looking to change the décor of their home, or are starting from scratch in a new home, we will go through their ideas and then advise on the gift list so they can create their dream home from the outset.

“It’s a great opportunity to use the gifts that you receive from loved ones in the best way possible. Lighting, soft furnishings, pictures & crockery can have a huge impact on the design of your home and with assistance, everything can be coordinated to compliment the design that a home-owner wants. If it’s a radical change you need or simply some help with your own tastes, an interior designer can be of great help.”

Lynne Frost offers an initial consultation in a couple’s home or her own studio in Aberdeen. She will then advise throughout a shopping trip and tailor the gift list to achieve the look that is wanted.
